Can I use the eSIM while my Nigerian SIM stays in the phone?
Yes. Dual SIM phones run the physical SIM and the eSIM together. Set the eSIM for mobile data and keep the Nigerian SIM for calls and SMS.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Most phones from 2019 onward support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Your phone must also be carrier unlocked. On iPhone, check Settings, General, About for a "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM" entry.
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it at home on Wi-Fi a day or two before your trip, but keep it switched off. Turn it on and enable data roaming for the eSIM line after you land.
Will I lose my Nigerian number?
No. The eSIM is added as a second line. Your Nigerian SIM stays in the phone for calls, SMS and bank OTPs while the eSIM handles data.
