Tips for using an eSIM in Saudi Arabia
- Pilgrims: networks get very busy around Makkah during Hajj. Download prayer apps and maps offline as a backup.
- Choose a plan that covers your full stay, as top ups during peak periods can be harder to arrange.
How to set it up
- Check your phone supports eSIM (how to check).
- Buy a Saudi Arabia plan and pay from your Naira wallet.
- Scan the QR code on Wi-Fi before you travel (iPhone or Android steps).
- When you land, switch the eSIM on and enable data roaming for it.
Saudi Arabia eSIM FAQ
Is a Saudi eSIM good for Hajj and Umrah?
Yes. It is one of the most convenient options for pilgrims. Pick a plan long enough for your whole trip and install it before you travel.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
Most phones from 2019 onward support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Your phone must also be carrier unlocked. On iPhone, check Settings, General, About for a "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM" entry.
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it at home on Wi-Fi a day or two before your trip, but keep it switched off. Turn it on and enable data roaming for the eSIM line after you land.
Will I lose my Nigerian number?
No. The eSIM is added as a second line. Your Nigerian SIM stays in the phone for calls, SMS and bank OTPs while the eSIM handles data.
How do I pay?
Fund your TonicsTools wallet in Naira by card, bank transfer or USSD, or with crypto, then buy the plan. The QR code is delivered to your dashboard and email.
